Indow Windows Does Time At Alcatraz So The World Can See Ai Weiwei’s Art

This was one of the many challenges of putting together the show. Part of the vision for his exhibit at Alcatraz calls for visitors to look down at his art from a gun gallery full of broken windows where guards once trained their weapons on prisoners below. But that meant opening a part of Alcatraz off-limits to the public. FOR-SITE, the foundation organizing @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz, had to carry out this powerful vision without putting a single nail or screw hole in this National Historic Landmark. FOR-SITE turned to Indow Windows to custom engineer a solution that will shield visitors from Alcatraz’s broken gun gallery windows without leaving a mark.

John Clay’s notes: Revere in the running; redshirt for Barker? | John Clay | Kentucky.com

The well-oiled crowd didn’t seem to mind, though, because Louis C.K., the cynosure of the festival, was there and in fine form. He delivered an anecdotal set that ranged from boyhood memories (about, among other things, the family dog that detested him) to the challenge of raising daughters in a highly sexualized culture (his imitation of a female model on an Abercrombie & Fitch billboard was memorably grotesque.) Louis veered off on a number of absurd detours, such as a Masters and Johnson disquisition on rat sex (inspired by a New York subway experience) and what motivates babies to cry on airplanes. Like most of the stand-ups on the generous seven-comic bill, Louis took some shots at Camden – his were just funnier. He considered it an “economic barometer,” for instance, that on his ride to the venue, “people just walk out into traffic.” Louis’ act was positively cerebral compared with those of the comics who preceded him.

Oddball festival down a few, but still comic

I had almost forgotten that Ara Parseghian was a game analyst. The worst part is that Rudy commercial for the College Football Playoff which has been shown more times on the SEC Network than the Real Housewives of New Jersey is shown on Bravo. In case you haven’t noticed, the Reds are done. Sunday’s doubleheader loss to Colorado, in which the Deadlegs blew a 9-5 lead in the ninth in the first game and a 5-2 lead in the seventh in the second game, was the final nail. Hopefully, Kentucky left those blue/white basketball uniforms in the Bahamas.
